The 2013 Botanical Gardens Contest winners have been announced following the Gallery Show and Reception hosted by the Dunsmuir Botanical Gardens Board of Directors Friday, October 11, at the Siskiyou Arts Museum in Dunsmuir. Awards were given in each of four categories: Plants, Wildlife, Landscape/Scenery and People in Nature and overall winners in the Adult and Youth Divisions who each received a $50 cash prize.
Photographs were judged on how well each met specific criteria: Relevance to Category, Composition, Photographic Quality, Technical Quality and General Appeal. The photograph, "Peach Azalea", taken by Carlee Ann Punt garnered the highest number of points from the judges and was honored by being named Best of Show.This year visitors who viewed the 50 contest photographs from October 11 through ArtWalk, October 19, were asked to participate in the People's Choice award voting. This year 422 votes were cast with Linda Sue Runnels' photograph, "Snow Angel", winning this coveted prize.
