The
2012 Dunsmuir Botanical Gardens Photo Contest presented a beautiful array of
photographs that truly captured the beauty and activities of the Botanical
Gardens. This year the photographs,
showcased at the Boxcar Gallery in Dunsmuir, were also part of the Fall Art
Walk on Saturday, October 20. All who viewed the photographs during the month
of October were asked to participate in the People’s Choice Award. 275 votes were cast with Selina Darger’s
“Calla Lily” winning this coveted prize.
Botanical
Gardens Board Vice-President, Vicki Yerkes, stated, “The 53 entries received
during this year’s contest are beautiful and we look forward to being able to
use them to promote the Botanical Gardens in the future. We are so pleased to see the increased
participation in the contest with more participants in all three Divisions,
Youth, Professional and Adult, and twice as many entries as last year.” Judges
for this year’s contest were Audra Gibson, Gibson Color Photography, Tim
Corcoran, Tim Corcoran Photography, and Bob Swanson, Bob Swanson Images.
