Gardens Receives Union Pacific Grant Award

The Dunsmuir Botanical Gardens has received a $2,200 grant from the Union Pacific Foundation which was presented at the Foundation's reception held June 24, 2014 at the Best Western Tree House Plus.  Heather Jones, UPF representative, presented the award to Gardens' Horticulturalist, Candace Miller.

The grant award will be used to purchase new plants for the Gardens' plant collections, purchase soil amendment to improve the soil structure at the Gardens and buy a projector and screen for giving presentations on the Gardens and information on various horticultural topics. Ms. Miller, stated, "This grant award makes it possible for us to add unusual plant specimens to the Gardens and help us fulfill our mission to provide horticultural education to the public and we thank the Union Pacific Foundation for their continued support."

Since 1959 the Union Pacific Foundation has distributed grant awards to qualified 501(c)(3) organizations.
